Abstract
Paraganglioma has abundant neurosecretory granules that produce cathecholamines to cause hypertension. The previously undiagnosed paraganglioma may lead to life-threatening complications such as malignant hypertension, myocardial infarction, and cerebral hemorrhage, during surgical resection. We report an anesthetic experience of a patient with unsuspected paraganglioma, read as gastrointestinal stromal tumor in abdominal computerized tomography, who showed severe hypertension during surgical resection of an abdominal mass under general anesthesia and was discharged with no sequelae.
